According to Mr. Nguyen Quy Phuong - Director of the Travel Department, Phu Quoc has about 178,000 people, if vaccinated, it will create herd immunity. This is a very good model for Vietnam to pilot open to international visitors with vaccine passports. Therefore, the leader of Kien Giang province said that he would propose to the Government to vaccinate all Phu Quoc residents to open the door to international visitors. 

Mr. Lam Minh Thanh, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expects that by September or early October, Phu Quoc island will welcome the first foreign tourists. 

According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat, Director of AZA Travel Company, first of all, the vaccine passport should be tested in the domestic market. If it is successful, it will deploy the vaccine passport to welcome international visitors, selectively from relatively safe markets. 

The trial tour can be a golf tour or a resort tour. From there, Vietnam will have the opportunity to welcome international visitors, recover tourism faster or at least not lag behind countries in the region such as Thailand and Japan.

Some Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia have also implemented the application of vaccine number certification. For example, from May 1, 2021, Singapore has accepted the IATA Travel Pass of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for international arrivals.
