Shwedagon Pagoda Festival (Yangon)

It is held on the full moon day of Tabaung (approximately March) and is one of the biggest events. During this festival, visitors can get a feel of the spirituality of the people of Myanmar by participating in the events and temple fairs; and observing the rituals.

Shwedagon temple festival usually lasts for half of the month with many activities and traditional rituals bearing all the unique and featured Buddhists. In the morning, thousands of participants in traditional attire will walk around the stupas in the temple complex by barefoot.  

After ringing the gong, the monks begin chanting to create a very spiritual atmosphere of spirituality. According to custom, during the 15 days of the festival, a group of 12 monks will take turns chanting until March 7, at the end of the festival.
