Since the outbreak of the novel type of coronaviruses has spread globally, business and tourism in many countries are significantly affected.

“ Early detection, early isolation, and active treatment is extremely important," WHO said to Vietnam. Vietnam is also removed from risk area for traveller from USA and now it is considered as a safe travel destination.

WHO is working closely with global experts, governments and partners to rapidly expand scientific knowledge on this new virus to track the spread and virulence of the virus. Countries and individuals are also provided essential advice on measures to protect themselves and prevent the widespread outbreak.

Vietnam government’s quick action to prevent Covid-19

Sharing border with China, Vietnam is one of the very first country turning on the Red Safeguard system to fully protect the country from Covid-19. According to WHO, Vietnam has responded well to the epidemic from the very outset, preventing its wide spread and the country is capable of isolating and curing Covid-19 cases.

“ 16 infected cases in Viet Nam were provided special medical health care and have been discharged from the hospital already” – reported by Ministry of Health Viet Nam on 26 February. 31 people were at risk of infection have been kept in quarantine and strictly monitored to ensure the safety for community health. Until the latest report, there is no new case confirmed thanks to the well-controlled situation of Covid -19 in Viet Nam. This impressive result is achieved after years of investing in core competencies including risk monitoring and evaluation, laboratory capacity, infection prevention and clinical management.

Although not appearing new confirmed cases, Vietnam Government’s efforts to prevent the spread of Covid- 19 were ramped up dramatically. They are taking precautionary measures to prevent its residents as well as foreign travelers at every single place. Since Feburary 1, all flights from and to mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau have been suspended, people coming from or having passed through affected areas within the past 14 days are either being denied entry to Vietnam or quarantined. In addition, Viet Nam Airlines and Bamboo Airways are suspending flights between Viet Nam and South Korea, as this country has become another hot pot of coronavirus outside China. Prime minister, ministers, top leaders and regional governors prioritize nCoV at top level in their daily schedule of work. Their prompt measures and safety precautions in an attempt to control the spread of the disease are greatly appreciated by WHO.

Weather effect to Covid – 19

Scientific evidences indicate that weather may have considerable influence on the development of Coronavirus. It tends to spread best in cold weather and low humidity. South Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar in which the average temperature is 25°C degree all year round, are not favorable condition for Covid-19 to develop and active. The only North Vietnam will have a couple of week under cool weather before getting warmer at 22-24°C degree. Those factors play an important role in remaining 4 countries safety from the disease outbreak. There is no infected case in Laos and Myanmar so far.

Despite the dramatic decline in the number of visitors travelling to Viet Nam, Vietnam’s living environment are safe for residents, international tourists and foreign investors. Many tourism hubs such as Ha Noi, Ninh Binh, Ha Long, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh city are opened to the public. Last week, Three Land Teams have conducted a quick survey of visitors’ attitudes to the coronavirus in Viet Nam. Most of them are not really worried about coronavirus as it has not been really a big problem so far in Viet Nam.
“ We feel safe in Viet Nam. We daily check the news, it does not spread out in Viet Nam so the percent of people smitten by it is very low.” – A foreign traveler shared.
