Vietnamese airlines have begun operating direct flights to Australia, Vietnam Airline with Hanoi-Melbourne and Vietjet Air with HCMC-Brisbane. This makes it easier for travelers to get from Vietnam to Australia without having to make a stopover in another country.

To fulfill demand, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air have announced plans to introduce new direct trips this month from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to several major Australian cities.


1. Vietjet announces direct flight Ho Chi Minh City - Brisbane on June 16

As mentioned in Nhan Dan Newspaper, On June 4, budget airline Vietjet Air held a ceremony to declare the opening of the first direct flight between Ho Chi Minh City and Brisbane (Australia).

Along with representatives of the governments, businesses, and citizens of the two nations, Pham Minh Chinh, the prime minister of Vietnam, and Anthony Albanese, the prime minister of Australia, attended the ceremony.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese gave a speech at the event in which he welcomed new connections to Australia, particularly Vietjet's route, which is the first to connect Vietnam and Brisbane, a stunning Australian city that will host the 2032 Summer Olympics.

After Melbourne and Sydney, Brisbane is the third Australian city to which Vietjet offers direct flights. It's also the first road that connects Brisbane and the Queensland state with Vietnam.

The new route would speed up travel time and improve circumstances for travelers and tourists flying between Ho Chi Minh City, the principal economic center of Vietnam, and Brisbane, the third-largest city in Australia.

Along with strengthening bilateral ties, it promotes trade connections between Vietnam, Brisbane, Queensland, and Australia as a whole.

On June 16, the route will be serviced by two return flights every Monday and Friday. At 10:50 local time, the planes leave Ho Chi Minh City and touch down in Brisbane at 21:55 local time. The return flights will take off at 23:30 local time and arrive in Ho Chi Minh City at 05:10 local time the next day.

2. Vietnam Airlines to launch Hanoi - Melbourne route on June 15

According to reported news, on June 15, Vietnam Airlines will formally begin offering two round-trip flights per week on Thursdays and Sundays between Hanoi and Melbourne, Australia.

On June 15, the first flight is planned to leave Hanoi at 0:05 local time and land in Melbourne at 12:30. The jet will land in the capital of Vietnam at 21:35. on the same day after returning from the second-largest city in Australia at 15:00.

Vietnam Airlines now has four routes with 18 flights a week connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with Sydney and Melbourne, making it the carrier with the most direct flights and highest frequency between Vietnam and Australia.
