Phnom Penh Guides: Awesome Restaurants for Vegan and Vegetarian

Posted By : Threeland Travel / Cambodia Travel Guide

Nowaday, there is a wide choice of vegan and vegetarian restaurants in Phnom Penh catering to non-meat eaters and serving up a creative range of dishes.  We’re sure these top restaurants will please even the most discerning palate.

Riverside neighborhood

Cambodia is located on the fish-rich Mekong delta, and its capital Phnom Penh sits at the confluence of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers. Here are some vegan and vegetarian restaurants located nearby the rivers in Phnom Penh:

1.    The Corn

The Corn is like a little germ hidden away off the busy streets in Phnom Penh with a peaceful ambiance. The Corn serves mostly traditional Khmer-inspired dishes meat-free. Its main courses are vegan with the option to add meat for an additional cost. Its standout most-loved dishes are: vegetarian Amok (a traditional Khmer curry), banana coconut curry, black rice, fresh spring roll.

The Corn’s drinks are also amazing, especially in the heat of Phnom Penh, to name some: corn whiskey freeze, basil & pineapple. The yummy and light vegan chocolate ice cream here is also a good choice for your dessert.

The place is actually not difficult to find as some reviews, as there is a big sign right at the beginning of its street. The Phnom Penh night market is just around 2.5km from The Corn, so you may pay a visit to the market after your meal.

Some delicious foods for vegans: The Green Bowl, hummus dish, bread with cashew cheese, greek wrap, BBQ jackfruit sandwich, a couple of salads, mango pop dessert, and sorbet.

Indian Vegetarian Restaurants in Phnom Penh

There’s no shortage of delicious Indian vegan and vegetarian restaurants in Phnom Penh. Check on these suggestions with high rate in review:

4.    Namaste India

Located in the heart of Phnom Penh, Namaste India is a truly the best Indian restaurant in town. This restaurant has scored 5 stars in most customer review because of its well-decorated interior decor, great ambiance, attentive staff speak English fluently, and big range of veggie authentic dishes. Most veggie dishes are around $4, but portions are generous. Try a mixed vegetable korma with rice and a garlic naan, Dal Makhani, vegetable biryani (aka ‘Chittranna’).

5.    Coriander Vegetarian Restaurant

Coriander is one of the most veg-friendly Indian restaurants in Phnom Penh. However, the menu still includes some meat dishes. In addition to the Indian veggie foods, its menu also includes Western and Asian veggie dishes like pizzas and pasta and vegetarian Khmer dishes. Many customers were impressed by its low prices at just $5 with generous portions which are big enough for two. A small plate of vegetable tempura you order may actually be bigger than you thought.

The ambiance is cozy with basic but authentic decoration. Corinader serves fruit smoothies as well which are also very good.
