Through The Golden Lands

We decided to walk to the top rather than getting a ride along the 5km back roads. The climb is tough in the heat but worth it to experience the view of the city. Definitely worth doing when you stay in Pakse, I didn’t stay for the sunset but I imagine it’s impressive from the Buddha.

A great place to learn about history. We learned about Angkor Wat in our text book. Coming here was an eye-opener. Even non-history lover like me can become interested. Amazing architecture from old days.

Arriving at the bottom of the steps of The Golden Buddha is daunting. Got the Tuk Tuk to drive 5 Kilometres to arrive at the back of The Budda. Absolutely brilliant and breathtaking. Looking out towards Pakse and The River is a rare sight. Been travelling South East Asia for nearly 7 weeks and this has been one of the highlights. Make time and do it. Climb if you must but however you decide which route to take do yourself a favour and enjoy.

We had a brilliant day with Samnang our tour guide. As a local he was passionate about the area and all the history. He shared so much with us and we enjoyed a typical Khymer lunch with him. Once again, thank you so much, Samnang!

We used Threeland Travel, for our day tour of the temples, was meant to be a small group, was only 4 of us. ... Wow.. what more can be said that has already been written. We entered through another enterance, the east enterance, to keep away from the thousands of other tourists, and it was so quiet, and peaceful. The tickets have to be purchased before hand to enter, The complex is massive, and you can easily spend a few hours here. a guise is beneficial, you learn so much mor. As it ids enclosed, it can get very hot, so you will need water, and shade. Probably the greatest historical site in the world, and it is on just such a massive scale compared to the other temples in the area.

It was a brillant trip. Enjoyed every aspect of this tour and will recommend to all my friends.

The royal palace is a beautiful place to visit, but unfortunately tickets are oversold to giant groups of tourists. If you really want to see some great temples, I would recommend visiting other, lesser known ones in the city.

Entry most of any attraction at 500 tb per person. Not to be missed if your visiting Bangkok. Tour guide will cost you at least another 500 tb if you want one. Wonder at the architecture and the Jade Buddha.
