It's 30 km from city, good 45 mins journey. We rented a private van thru the hotel at US$60 for party of 4. The series of cascading waterfall in the greens is mind soothing. Entrance fee is 20000 kips. Many nice pics, can swim too. Though its 1.8 m deep in certain sections.

The falls had been recommended to us by friends but it’s something that has to be experienced to be truly appreciated. Even though it was rainy season and we had read it could be quite rough and muddy we were blessed by blue calm pools to swim in and the waterfall was spectacular. The whole family thoroughly loved this trip which we reached in a Tuk tuk van that cost us 250000 kip. We missed the carpe Dium restaurant which was also recommended to us but don’t make the same mistake as we did and ensure it’s part of your trip!

It was raining when we went and there were less people. Definitely, a beautiful place and best to visit when less crowded with only a few people taking photos of themselves and ignoring the beautiful scenery.... Hiked to the top and had the place to ourselves. The park guide was friendly and showed us a scenic route to return to the entrance.

These waterfalls are as gorgeous as they appear in the pictures! They are stunning and it's great to swim there particularly when it's so hot out. They are really the highlight of our time in Luang Prabang. Plus you get to see the Bear Sanctuary as your climb up to the caves. The bears are so cute! One note, we were told that if it's just rained, the beautiful blue waters will likely be more yellow. Also the rainy season is clearly the best time to see the waterfalls rather than peak travel season.

Words and photos can’t really do it justice. I would recommend you arrive early as we got there at 9am and had it to ourselves for a little while. Also make sure you climb up to the very top (steps on the left) as there is another pool up there with a rope swing.

Having seen pictures of the falls online I was expecting a lot. When we got there I was blown away by the nicest falls I have ever seen, and I've see quite a few. We went in early September which is the low season as it is also the wet season. This year there had been limited rain and the ampunt of water coming over the falls was perfect. The experience was helped by there not being too many people there. I imaging the experience would be totally different in high season. Swimming in the pools directly below the falls is now banned but there is a swimming area a couple of minutes walk downstream that is stunning. If you have limited time in Luang Prabang this is the must do activity.

This particular waterfall is beautiful. You have to go. It is approximately forty five mins from Luang Prabang you are able to buy a tuk tuk there or even many hostels organise group tuk tuks. When you get into first you are going to see a bear sanctuary that is awesome. Next towards the waterfall. The bottom pools are really busy. Keep going until you get on the bridge in which you are able to envision the waterfall. On each side here there's a route left and right. Go up the very best. It is a steep climb, you want some amount of good shoes and fitness (no flip flops). Took 10 minutes on the top. Worth IT! It is truly quiet just a couple of folks here and a lot of pools. Can swim comfortably. Take a look at the platform at the edge. The sights are astounding!

Quite touristy but a must see in Luang Prabang, particularly when it is not rainy season. There is a lovely walk up behind the waterfall which is enjoyable too.

We loved this waterfall. It’s more spectacular than you can imagine from the pictures. The color of the water and the beauty of the surrounding vegetation is impressive. The moon bears shown in cages on the way up the fall are interesting. But since they are caged as if in a zoo, I’m not sure why it is described as a sanctuary.

Thought the falls would be just another water fall but I was proved wrong as usual ! The lower levels are magnificent with beautiful clear water flowing down. However the upper levels are even more spectacular and at the very top you can take a plunge ! Very clean area where you can relax and enjoy nature
