GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION

Da Nang lies in the midland of Vietnam which creates fairly equal distance to either Hanoi capital in the north or Ho Chi Minh city in the south.

Linh Ung Pagoda

Linh Ung Pagoda is the city’s architectural jewl that houses the country’s tallest Lady Bodhisattva statue (67m in height). Located on the Son Tra Peninsula, Linh Ung pagoda offer wonderful views to the boundless ocean and beautiful mountain roads surround.  

Linh Ung pagoda features perfect harmony between the modern and traditional architectures of Vietnamese pagodas, especially in the three-entrance gate, the main chamber and the ancestors’ house. The local people believed that the statue of Lady Buddha not only protects the fisherman but also gives them strength to overcome storms and strong waves.

Linh Ung Pagoda is the popular attraction for spiritual tourists, pilgrims, or simply anyone who wants to explore the city’s religious belief and culture.  

Champa Sculpture Museum

The museum’s first building was opened in 1919 with the very first collection brought by French archaeologists and experts from L’École Francaise d’Extrême Orient (EFEO). Hundreds of sculptures have been gradually collected throughout the years ever since then.

Some artefacts were sent to Paris and others to the Ha Noi and Sai Gon (now Ho Chi Minh City) museums, but many typical objects were left in Tourane (now Da Nang). The first extension begun in the 1930s, with two new galleries providing space of display for the objects added in the 1920s and 1930s. In 2002, the Museum was again extended with the two-storey building provide an extra 1111 square metre.

The museum offers a wonderful opportunity for you to trace back time and visit the once prosperous kingdom of Champa.

The city of bridges
Da Nang houses many impressive bridges that connects the two parts of the city across Han River. Dragon bridge and Tran Thi Ly bridge seem to be among the most spectacular ones. Dragon Bridge is 666m long, 37.5m wide and has six lanes for traffic. What attracts tourists is that The dragon on the bridge can breathe fire and water in 2 and 3 minutes respectively, making it an incredible highlight of Danang City. Fire and Water Performance is at 9.pm every weekends and holidays. Just take a seat in a riverside coffee shop and you are in a great position to watch the show. Tran Thi Ly, as a cable bridge however, has a more modern and unique architecture. The state of the art techniques are applied in the lighting of the bridge. The colours of the pylon and deck of the bridge change at night, making it a great attraction for tourists visiting Da Nang. 

WEATHER AND TRAVEL PACKING TIPS FOR TOURS IN DA NANG 

Da Nang has a tropical monsoon climate, typically high and rather invariable temperature. There are two seasons within a year: rainy season lasting from August to December and dry season from January to July.

From January to July: During the day, the sun blazes; so you should definitely bring sunscreen, sunglasses, or even long-sleeves if you don’t want to get sun-burnt during sightseeing. In the evening, t-shirt and shorts are highly recommended for flexibility. As you will be surely end up soaking up in the sea at some point, a sarong, bathing suit, bikini, shorts, and flip flops as they are always useful for beach and pool time.

From August to December: Be prepared with a raincoat or umbrella for sudden rain. Also, it is cool and chilly during November and December, a coat is necessary to protect your body.

Whatever time you plan to visit Da Nang, remember to bring a nice casual outfits for fun (and fashionable) city break and night out, and also some shoulders and knees covered clothes if you plan to visit temples, pagodas and other sacred places.
