One of my most cherished memories was guiding a small group through a quiet corner of Angkor Thom at sunrise. As the first light touched the ancient carvings, our local monk companion began to share stories about the city’s spiritual meaning and the Khmer Empire’s legacy. The travelers sat in complete silence, not out of obligation, but from pure reverence. Later, one of them told me, “It felt like time stopped, like we were part of something eternal.”
