A very enjoyable half day trip to Pak ou caves. The 2 hours boat trip from Luang Prabang gives a good experience of the life style and scenery along the Mekong bank. It is recommended to take a shared boat from the long boat office (65k kip/person), leaving 8.30am The 40 minute upper and lower cave visit was interesting. The place was not too busy :)
The place, you can either drive or walk to pinnacle. On top, you will see a lot of monk statues and the biggest one. If you look forward from the top, you will see alomost of city. You could make sport at sunset, walk to the top of mountain. Fresh air is around you. If anyone who used to visit Budapest, you will have the same feeling with me when you stand at the Liberty statue.
We took the boat cruise to the caves and back. We stopped at a small village called the Whiskey village on the way to the caves. On the return trip a wonderful lunch was served. The cave step are moderately difficult to climb you may have to rest a few steps on the way up.
A must see when visiting Luang Prabang. Fabulous swimming in crystal clear water in one of the 3 pools on thie side of the waterfall. Beautiful!
This is a 45 minute drive from Luang Prabang. First you pass tue rescued bears sanctuary then onto the falls. There are many shallow pools and smaller waterfalls, keep going until you reach the main falls which is 60 meters high. There is a well built wooden bridge which is great of photos. You can also take the stairs up to the top and back down, my guide advised it was slippery and stairs don’t last for long then it turns to a track. If you don’t go up the top the is a road back from the main waterfall but recommend you go back via the river again, as nothing to see on the road.
A great excursion on Mekong River including observation to the local life in villages, cows bathing in the river, Chinese railway construction etc. At the place there is a lower and upper cave to visit. The lower one requires a small physical effort to climb up and it is very interesting. For the upper cave, climbing on 220 additional steps is required but the impressions are worth it.
Very interesting Kmer side nearby Champassak Splendid view from above Ideal as preview of Angkor Wat since it is situated at the ancient road to Angkor
This temple is apparently one of the most highly architecturally revered buildings. The main temple gradually unfolds itself, with carvings on each corner. Also the highlight is the royal funeral carriage. You must pay to enter.
For those who are deeply interested in cultural and spiritual events, choosing tours and taking part in festivals will be one of the best ways to enjoy holiday.

Laos tours will be nothing short of thrilling and meditative experiences. Ancient Laos was full of elephants, varied fishes, jungles, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, and superb ancient temples. Modern Laos will leave you pleasantly amazed by its orderly traffic with no konking, quarrels, or fusses on the streets, especially in Vientiane and Pakse. Sophistication meets authenticity in Laos.
You can achieve absolute tranquility if you choose to stay in a lakeside or a hillside boutique lodge. You can also experience the authentic lifestyle of the Laos people, leisurely and placidly, making it the perfect getaway location.
Laos is a promising place for adventure-seekers. With jungles and nature reserves, mountain ranges, and powerful Mekong tributaries, the country offers a wide range of adventurous activities of different levels of challenges, such as kayaking, rafting, mountaineering, motor biking, canoeing, and elephant riding. Treetop zip lining and tubing are some of the experiences that are rarely found in neighboring Indochina countries.

Being authentic Asia, your tour in Laos will cherish many of the traditions that have disappeared in a frenzy of development elsewhere in the region. It is hard to believe somnolent Vientiane is an Asian capital, and there is a timeless quality to rural life, where stilt houses and paddy fields look like they are straight out of a movie set.
Magical Luang Prabang witnesses hundreds of saffron-robed monks gliding through the streets every morning in a call to alms, one of the region’s iconic images. Intrepid travelers normally prefer a budget Laos travel package, which will give opportunities to discover a country untainted by mass tourism and Asia in slow motion, with vivid nature, voluptuous landscapes, and vibrant culture.
Some top Laos tour packages allow you to learn more about Laos’s lifeline in the Mekong River, which runs through the length of the country, at times bisecting and at others serving as a boundary with Thailand. The rugged Annamite Mountains historically have acted as a buffer against Vietnam, with which Laos shares its eastern border. For such a small country, your vacation in Laos seems to be lively and diverse in terms of the people. Colorfully dressed hill tribes populate the higher elevations, while in the lowland river valleys, coconut palms sway over the Buddhist monasteries of the ethnic Lao.
