Itinerary

  1. This morning, we leave Siemreap for Anlong Veng, an old Khmer Rouge military base, where the top leaders of Khmer Rouge lived and fought against Vietnam soldiers. We will visit the house of former famous Khmer Rouge commander Ta Mok, now is a small museum described the troop’s lives and the firearm activities against the government. We walk to the place where believed it is a burial site of Polpot, the chairman of Khmer Rouge, known by his responsibility of millions of deaths in Cambodia (1975-1979). After the lunch time we continue to Preah Vihear, a new UNESCO World Heritage temple on the top of the mountain in the border with Thailand. If time permit we will go up to Preah Viear mountain to see the sunset over the ancient land of Khmer empire.

    We will be overnight nearby the temple.

  2. Enjoy the beautiful sunrise from the mountain before heading to Koh Ker, an area covers the ruins of the ancient capital city of the Khmer Empire from 828 AD - 944 AD. The complex of Koh Ker temples comprise of Rahal Baray, Balang temple, Thneng temple, Linga Shrin, Prasat Andong Kok, in which big lingas (a symbol of the male in Hindu) still remains. From the top of Prasat Thom (big temple), you will have a panorama view of the Cambodia Northwest mountain range Dangrek and discover the relics wrapped up in jungles.

    Dinner and overnight in Koh Ker.

  3. Today we have a long journey to the Beng Melea, a small county at the foot of the Phnom Kulen mountain. It was the spring of a canal run to the great Tonle Sap Lake, which probably used to transfer sandstone and wooden blocks to build up the Angkorian monuments. Phnom Kulen is a holy mountain for Cambodian pilgrimage. We will see 1000 carvings in the sandstone 10cms under the water level, highlighted with Hindu God Vishnu and lotus flower. We continue to visit Beng Mealea 12th century temple is nearly the size of Angkor Wat but squeezed in jungles. We will be back to Siem Reap for your onward flight or your own time at Siemreap.
