Many people come to Yangon or even Myanmar simply for the Shwedagon Paya. It is definitely a must-see in Southeast Asia. The gigantic, encompassing golden stupa and the surrounding posts reflect the centrality of Buddhism in the country. Fortunately there are more local worshipers than tourists. Don' t go in the surrounding gras with flipflops because many snakes are there. Be kind of realizing where you are setting feed in the shoe forbidden areas.. Many temple surroundinds are never cleaned. Especially the big temples are full of bird excrements. Be sure to go never in dark corridors where dump is everywhere. I have been multiple times; day and night. I prefer evening when the sun is setting and night time since it is more iconic. The guide will tell you some interesting part of the temple. Also footwear is not allowed, you will have to leave shoes outside

I and my mate Ifti visited this awesome place during our Myanmar leg of our tour of five South-East Asian countries. This place from start to finish is just mind-blowing. There are many Pagodas and shrines which are very richly and intricately decorated as well as many statues of Buddha and other holy men. Statues and the shrines are almost all covered with pure gold leaves which seem glowing in bright sunshine. Although this place is teaming with visitors all the time it still has a calm and serene atmosphere all around it. We enjoyed our visit a lot here so will recommend the visitors of this city to come and pay a visit to this magnificent place at least once.

Visiting the temples of bagan was such an amazing experience. We hired a guide for our first day which was very helpful since there isn't much info on the temple grounds. If you compare it to for example the temples of angkor, this is a very different experience and well worth going to Myanmar for!

An unimaginable world of exploration and enchantment. These temples are inspiring and beautiful while maintains an air of mystery and spirituality. It was so wonderful to see these up close and to explore the landscape with so many temples dotted around.

This is my first time, visiting a pagoda that has an elevator inside. The pagoda has a lots of people on the day i visited but it was not so noisy at all. Everyone paid attention to their tour guides or praying. We also had an interesting experience by standing at our birthday corner and prayed. We both felt so peaceful when we were here!
