Highlights of Cambodia

Feels odd to rate this “five stars” but it was such an important visit for my friend and I. You get a good understanding of some of the history of Cambodia, and although obviously not pleasant, is well curated and explained; audio guides are provided in different languages. There is also a meditation/rest room if you feel overwhelmed. Definitely not a museum for kids.

Cost me $21 for the whole trip and that's it. Nothing more than except for maybe a small donation that you willingly give to the resident. It started with a long journey from the hotel to this place via a van. Then we rode a boat that toured us around the lake. In the middle of the touring, we had a chance to visit one of the houses here and interact with the local. The tour guide helped us to translate. Then we went along the lake again, for a sunset watching. At first I thought, the sunset watching would be in the boat but boy I was wrong. We reached to a floating wooden board in the middle of the large lake big enough to fit about 6-7 people. It was wonderful. No one pushes us to buy something for a donation to the villagers, no stopping by a commercialised souvenir stall, no trip to crocodile farm whatsoever, no other additional trips with another additional costs, none. It was an honest trip guided by a local. We even got a free drink each one of us. Oh did I mentioned that we had snacks too while watching the sunset, in an open space in the middle of the lake? Totally awesome

Wonderful sense of history and opulence in abundance. Well worth the visit and most enjoyable. Highly recommended and just a stroll from the esplanade.

First, the downside: too many tourists (yes I know I am one), too many tour buses, too many Cambodians hustling cheap gewgaws for said tourists. The upside: a magnificence difficult to appreciate, much less comprehend. Gotta be careful on the temple steps, they are narrow, steep and tricky. The sheer size of the temple complex is overwhelming.

This is a must visit coz it shows the genius minds of men. Just like the Great Wall of china or terra-cotta warriors.... just seeing the unlimited imagination of men. 37 usd per pax just for entrance fees isn’t all that cheap but understand they are restoring the site. Guide additional price. Kids below 12 is free. Ticketing is at another site. Sunrise tour is worth it but we couldn’t do it due to weather

Right in the Centre of town is this must see site & goes hand in hand with a visit to the Killing Fields, The Genocide Centre The audio tour is a must for this to work, it is well paced & very informative. The stories are grim & the exhibits eerie but that is the reality of what happened not so long ago. It is thought provoking a makes you appreciate so much of what we take for granted. Just to be imprisoned, brutally tortured & killed for being a teacher, Doctor, wearing glasses or having soft hands is madness but it was the reality here between 1975-1979.

Short tuktuk ride from downtown Siem Reap. Tickets $37USD purchased off site and then 15 min ride to the Wat. Ticket for the day is good for three temples - Angkor Wat, Banyon and Ta Phrom. Cross pontoon bridge and enter a 12th century world amongst pushy Koreans and Chinese folk. The grounds were well maintained and clean. The historical discovery is amazing. The climb to the top levels can be, let’s say thrilling! Cannot say more other than one must experience.

We were driven out to the lake from Siem Reap. Interesting to see life along the banks and the fish market. Then we arrived at the floating village. These houses float and move to deeper water as and when they need to. Stopped at a floating shop/restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyed this trip as we like to see how people live - more than temples and ruins actually!

Beautiful buildings and grounds. Well worth a visit. The diamond encrusted Buddha and silver floor are exceptional. Take your time and enjoy. Got some great photos.

How often do you stand out in the open for an our in heavy rain JUST to get a PICTURE? Well we did... We had seen all the lovely sunrise pictures unfortunately we did not have the best sunrise nevertheless we did not come back dissapointet. It was an unreal experience that I will put on pair with ha long bay but again I do like taking pictures and hear about history so for me it was perfect

Well organised museum with detailed audio guide in several languages. Quality description of horrible times.

My day trip to tonle sap and see the amazing rain forest there was so great. The floating village there was great that to see how people spending their life living on the water. The best part was sunset. I cannot recommended any other place beside this place in my life time. Great view and good for photo shooting. Highly recommended!

I would say this is a must visit. 40 minutes with a guide, i would recommend it to understand the significance of everything. Beautiful buildings, grounds and sculptures.
