4. Structure of Hanoi Flagpole

The flagpole is designed with three floors and a tower, the floors are connected by a 54-step spiral staircase leading to the top. Each base floor of the Flagpole is built in the shape of a truncated square pyramid, with a decreasing area and stacked in order.
The first floor has a height of 3m and each side is 42.5m long. The 2nd floor is 3.7m high and the side dimensions are 27m. Three of the four doors of the 2nd floor are covered with letters, including Huong Minh (South gate), Nghenh Huc (East gate) and Hoi Quang (West gate). The 3rd floor has a height of 5.1m and each side is 12.8m long, with a door to the stairs facing the north.
The body of the flagpole has a height of 5.1m, a length of 18.2m, and the bottom edge is about 2m wide with a cylindrical shape with 8 sides gradually decreasing. The top of the flagpole is shaped like an octagonal floor with a height of 3.3m, each side corresponds to a window. In the middle of the floor is a cylinder with a diameter of 40cm rising to the top to serve as a place to plant the flag.
The national flag hanging on the top of this relic is 24m2 (4x6m) in size and is made of non-glossy fabric. To resist strong winds, the corner of the flag has been bare in the shape of a diamond for added strength.
