Thanks to the Danang Smart City app for smartphones, tourists in central Da Nang City may now easily identify the locations of public restrooms that are open for free throughout the central city.

As reported by VNExpress, Deputy Director of the city’s Department of Information and Communications Tran Ngoc Thach said to search for free public toilets, local residents and tourists could download the Danang Smart City app, then choose a facility close to their location.

The name of the facility, address and distance will be shown on the app, he said, adding that 294 locations have been updated on the app, including 228 sites in Hai Chau District and 66 in Son Tra District.

The Da Nang Department of Information and Communications has arranged manpower to regularly update the information of public toilets.

2. The ‘Comfort as Home’ program

The ‘Comfort as Home’ program was initiated by the People’s Committee of Hai Chau District and the district’s business association in 2015 and has exerted a positive effect.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in 2018 recognized the logo of the program for nationwide application.

In March this year, the People's Committee of Son Tra district deployed the "Comfort as home" model which has been actively responded to by local enterprises, many hotels, restaurants and accommodation establishments, contributing to promoting the image of a friendly city.

Thach said that on June 1, the municipal Department of Information and Communications sent a written request to the People's Committees of districts calling on businesses, restaurants, hotels, and catering establishments to join the campaign and update on the app to better serve local residents and visitors.

The number of public toilets is expected to rise further in the coming time, Thach added. Districts in Da Nang still continue calling on enterprises, restaurants, hotels, and eateries to provide free toilets to serve local residents and travelers.

To find the locations of public toilets in the Danang Smart City app, users just need to choose the 'free public WC' tab in the app to be recommended public toilets near them.
