 Laos-
a land lock country is well-known with its culture, tradition,
festivals, cuisine which has till keep the same flavor and style in
making as in the Royal palaces hundreds of years ago.
People know about Laos with its impressive traditions, ethics and
friendliness, with the major state religion is ‘Buddhism’ a symbol
of eternal peace, love and humanity.
Moreover, what bring millions of tourists to this country are the
temple system and the plenty of festival here, especially, “Pha That
Luang” temple with That Luong festival...
1. Pha That Luang temple
The name That Luang means "Great Stupa". It stands as both a symbol
of Laos as well as the most important monument in the country.
Pha That Luang temple was constructed by King Setthathirat in 1566.
Its official name is Pha Jedi Lokajulamani, which means "Precious
Stupa of the World". That Luang is a multi-tier stupa, each level
represents a different stage of Buddhist enlightenment. The lowest
one represents the material world; the second level represents the
world of appearance; the highest one represents the world of
nothingness.
2. That Luong festival
If you visit Vientiane in mid-November, you may have the opportunity
of witnessing the That Luang Festival- Vientiane's biggest annual
event.
Boun That Luang is a Lao Buddhist celebration and the largest
national holiday in Laos. The festival is held in the capital
Vientiane over three days during the full moon of November, the
twelfth lunar month. . In the Pha That Luang, the Lao people make
offerings to the Monks to reflect their obedience and in hope of
getting their prayers heard for a better life after recantation. The
offerings include candles, lanterns presented in honor of Buddha.
