Preserved old Hanoi house as tourist site
 Among the hurry- up
life of the Hanoian, one time, we have chance to go- by to visit an
old house at 11 Hang Bac street, Hoan Kiem distric, Hanoi. Old
quater- considered to be the central of tourism, always crowded with
the tourist and the local people doing their bussiness,
mordernization and industrialization seem to make a lot of changes
to the ancient feature here through the time.
However, There is still a place keep its origin description. It
looks like a small oasis lying among the hustle and bustle of city
life, the house brings the passer-by feelings of peace and
quietness. The house was bought in 1945 by Ms Pham Thi Te and now
belongs to Mr Pham Ngoc Giao- her eldest son.
The house has the harmony connection between Vietnamese deco and
French architecture. Under the fresh blue colour of the perennial
trees is the red-tiled roof which curved in the Vietnamese
traditional pagoda style. A lot of wndows and seperated rooms makes
the house look like the one in Paris.
There are two floors with the square of 200 metters added with 180-
square- meter with flowers, decorative trees, and bunches of bamboo.
Areca and small bamboo at the two sides of the paths in the garden
opens a peaceful images of the countryside.
Through a long history for nearly a century, the house has been
keeping its old decoration and many wooden items as: tables, chairs
and paitings....
The house has been paid a lot of attention as well as high
evaluation from the local people and the foreigner. With its unique
and beauty, the house has been listed in the book " The 36 guild
streets area in Hanoi’s Ancient Quarter”, by Japanese experts.
After preservation, the house will be developed as a tourist
destination for city tours in Hanoi. The site is expected to give
the visitors a glance of old Vietnamese architecture and culture,
especially to give tourists a space of stillness and peace, escaping
from the noisiness of urban life..
