Tien Giang Invests On Tourism
The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang will spend US$20.476 million on developing tourism this year.
According to the plan, the province’s tourism authority will strengthen tourism infrastructure, launch new tours and add more travel products. It will also tackle long-standing problems that impact on the tourism business, mainly tourist-related scams.
Tien Giang aims to take advantage of its fresh water ecosystem along the river Tien, the Dong Thap Muoi wetland ecosystem and the Go Cong sea ecosystem.
This year, the province targets 1.386 million visitors, a year-on-year increase of 8.5%. Of that, 633,900 are foreigners, representing an increase of 8%, while tourism receipts reached US$17.904 million, up 15% over last year.
Last year, Tien Giang welcomed over 1.278 million visitors, including nearly 587,000 foreigners, who generated US$15.571 million.
