New Swiss-Belhotel property in Lao Cai
Asian hotel management group, Swiss-Belhotel International Hotels & Resorts opens its newest property in the border town of Lao Cai, the gateway town to Sapa, best known for its hill tribe treks and hill country culture.
The hotel is due to open in July and brings the Hong Kong-based group’s portfolio to more than 120 hotels and resorts across Asia and the Middle East.
The 186-room Swiss-Belhotel Lao Cai is the group’s second property in Vietnam, joining the beachfront Swiss-Belhotel Golden Sand Resort & Spa in Hoi An.
Swiss-Belhotel Lao Cai is the second Swiss-Belhotel branded property in Vietnam as the fast-growing Asian hotel management company extends its portfolio to more than 120 hotels and resorts across the region.
The Lao Cai-Hekou border crossing is the major overland checkpoint between Vietnam and China, but it is best known as the gateway to Sapa, One Pillar Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house, and Mount Fansipan, Vietnam’s highest peak.
Lao Cai will assume much greater significance as a regional economic and trade hub given its strategic location ahead of the AEC free trade era that is due to start in December 2015.
The border town has road, railway and waterwayconnections and in the future will include air routes. Lao Cai is also located on an economic belt project that will link ASEAN members and China.
Swiss-Belhotel International currently manages a portfolio of more than 120 hotels, resorts and projects located in China, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
