New Direct Ho Chi Minh City – Yokohama Route
City authorities expect to have direct flights from Japan’s Yokohama to serve an increase in business tourists once a new industrial park opens in this southern city.
Ho Chi Minh City chairman, Le Hoang Quan, said the city and Japan’s Yokohama prefecture was attempting to establish an air link that would help serve business travel between the two cities.
“The Ho Chi Minh City-Yokohama route would make it easier for more Japanese investors to visit Vietnam but we still need to secure the support of airlines to fly nonstop services.”
Twenty five Japanese companies have already registered as tenants in the city’s new Vie-Pan Techno zone in the Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park in Nha Be district, he added.
Work started, 17 February, on the US$31 million project, designed to support Japanese industry firms interested in establishing factories. It will serve mainly Japanese hi-tech small and medium-sized enterprises.
Ho Chi Minh City is making efforts to develop support industries as recommended by the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO).
