New Air Service to Yangon by Air China
Air China will launch services linking Beijing and Yangon, while adding a Chengdu-Kunming-Yangon flight starting later this month.
Scheduled to launch 30 March, the airline will operate four weekly flights on the Beijing-Yangon route, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday using a B737-800.
The outbound flight, CA715, will depart from Beijing at 1930 and arrive in Yangon at 2250. The return flight, CA716, will depart from Yangon at 2350 local time and arrive in Beijing at 0550 Beijing time.
For Chengdu-Kunming-Yangon route, the airline will operate a daily service with A320s.
The outbound flight, CA905, will depart from Chengdu at 0825 Beijing time and arrive in Yangon at 1115 local time, with a stop in Kunming. The return flight, CA906, will depart from Yangon at 1215 local time and arrive in Chengdu at 1815, also with a stop in Kunming.
According to the airline, the introduction of the two services will support tourism and give passengers, resident in Yangon access to flights from Beijing to Japan, South Korea and North America.
Air China is a member of the Star Alliance and many of its international flights have code share agreements with other member airlines. Chengdu is an Air China secondary hub for flights to other cities in southwest China and some international flights to Japan.
Air travel grew 31.1% routes between China and Yangon last year, while between January to July, last year, tourist traffic increased by 23.1%.
At the end of 2013, Air China introduced nonstop service from Beijing to Chiang Mai and Siem Reap.
