Ho Chi Minh City improves duty free shopping
Vietnam’s Southern Airports Services Company has re-launched two duty free shops in Tan Son Nhat International Airport’s immigration area after being closed since July 2009.
The duty-free store caters to passengers who are entering the country and are positioned in the baggage claim area right after immigration control.
Visitors can purchase a 1.5 litre bottle of wine (more than 22% a/c) or two-litre bottles under 22% (a/c) and 400 cigarettes. Travelers can buy up to a value of US$237.50. Over that amount duty and taxes must be paid.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport is located in 6 km north of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The airport is the busiest and largest in the country with over 15.5 million passengers annually. There are over 40 airlines serving the airport.
