Free Wi-Fi For Tourists In Da Lat
Da Lat’s provincial department of information and communications says it has approved a project to provide Wi-Fi internet in Da Lat town.
According to the department, the facility will cost US$285,700 to install, mostly covered from public funding. However officials said they were confident it would add a service that would help to generate business and improve revenue for tourist-related shops and entertainment spots that need to communicate with visitors.
The project is expected to be completed by mid-December to serve the province’s culture and tourism week in Da Lat at the end of this year.
Tourists will be able to access wireless internet for a limited time to access emails, while later free access will be for specific websites.
Vietnam has introduced free Wi-Fi for visitors in Hoi An, Danang, Halong, Hue and at Saigon Railway Station. The service is being widened to cover all tourist destinations over the next five years.
Over the next two years Quang Ninh province will provide more free Wi-Fi at economic and tourist hub cities such as Uong Bi, Cam Pha, Van Don and Mong Cai.
Free Wi-Fi is generally viewed as a tool to build trade and tourism by allowing travellers to quickly source accurate information using their smart phones.
